Performing at Becky and Stuart's wedding

I had a fantastic time performing at Becky and Stuart's wedding at the Netherwood Hotel in Grange, Cumbria. 

A lot of my magic happens inside your hands

I arrived to perform at the evening reception. Everyone was pretty full from the meal and just chilling out quietly. It seemed like I arrived at the perfect time to turn up and get the energy and excitement going again for the evening party. 

Bending coins in front of people's eyes

Within no time at all, everyone was buzzing and laughing from all the excitement. I lost count of the number of 50p coins I bent. I imagine some people woke up the next day with pocketfuls of unusable coins, though no one seemed to mind...! 

The Netherwood Hotel in Grange is a lovely venue for getting married. I've performed there many times over the years at weddings as well as a corporate event and even a sixth form ball once. The staff are all fantastic and it's a pleasure to get to entertain in such a stunning hotel. 

I also got to work with photographer Ian Wood. This was my first time working with Ian but he was an absolute delight and within no time I felt like I'd known him years. All the photos on this page were taken by Ian and I am thoroughly impressed by them. I strongly recommend you check out his website as I will be recommending him to future couples. I also got to work with Ryan Iredale from Cumbria Wedding Films who did a great job of getting all the right shots. 

Ending my performance with a bang

I ended my time at the wedding with a special performance just for the Bride and Groom. I started things off with a card trick that left them with a special souvenir and then produced something magical in a literal puff of smoke (and massive ball of fire!). I can't say too much about it, other than it went down very well. These nice words were left from the lovely bride Becky.

The Carus Green Golf Club is a stunning wedding venue in the beautiful, historic market town of Kendal in Cumbria. The venue is absolutely stunning with views right across the Cumbrian fells and perfect for golfing fans. It's right on the edge of the Lake District with great links to Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Keswick and Penrith as well as Lancaster, Manchester and Lancashire to the South. 

The wedding fayre is free to attend and includes a free glass of Prosecco and entry into a free prize draw. You can find the Carus Green golf club on Burneside Road in Kendal. Chris Cook performing magic at Swing and Shout in Manchester

I will be performing at Bangkok Bar in Manchester on Saturday 21st February as part of a fantastic line-up of swing dance music and circus performers. Come along to Swing and Shout meets Prohibition.

I will be performing close-up magic and pickpocketing as well as a slot on the main stage. As well as myself there are some fantastic circus performers teaching hoop spinning, belly dancing and showing off their incredible skills. 

Expect some fantastic circus performers as well as magic!

I often perform in Manchester, Lancaster and all over the North West so this will be a really fun chance to see some mind blowing close-up magic.

As well as magic there will be astounding circus tricks, fabulous swing dance and jazz bands as well as incredible DJ's all the way into the wee small hours.

I will be appearing at the North Lakes Hotel Wedding Showcase on Sunday 25th January from 12pm-4pm.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2014

Chris Cook: Charlatan

Performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival has been a dream of mine for years. Since around 2005 I have been going up to Edinburgh to check out the latest and greatest comedy and magic shows, dreaming that one day I may be able to have a show there myself. Well this year my dream came true...

I had the pleasure of performing my hour long show "Chris Cook: Charlatan" twenty times during the fringe festival to over 1,500 people. I had the pleasure of being a part of the wonderful PBH Free Fringe organisation who have been running for 19 years now. The show was really well received by critics and audiences and every seat of every show was always full with plenty of people sat in the aisles and squeezed in at the side.

Rhys and I celebrating success with our comicbook tshirts

The whole experience was made possible with the help of my good friend Rhys Williamson who co-wrote and directed the show. Rhys was fantastic at bouncing ideas around and bringing a "non-magician" head to the table when it came to scripting and rehearsing. We will be working together again on next years show.

The show was on every day in the wonderful Voodoo Rooms, just round the corner from the train station. It is without a doubt one of the nicest venues at the entire festival, with fantastic staff and an excellent programme of other comedy and cabaret shows. I shall definitely be returning there next year...

Thank you to all of the wonderful people that came to see the show. It was an absolute pleasure to perform to such a great bunch of people. I can't wait to see you all again next year.
